CS2 Map Analysis: Kill Heatmaps & Positioning Data
Explore interactive kill heatmaps, player positioning, and grenade trajectories drawn from 286+ professional CS2 matches. Filter by team side, round type, and weapon to understand exactly where and how frags happen on every active-duty map.
What Are Kill Heatmaps?
Kill heatmaps overlay kill locations directly onto the map image using a color gradient. Red zones mark areas of high kill density — the chokepoints and angles where fights are most frequent — while blue and cold zones indicate positions where kills rarely occur. Because the gradient is built from hundreds of professional matches, patterns emerge instantly: you can see exactly which corners are the most dangerous, where rotations tend to break down, and which parts of the map are structurally underused.
How to Read a Heatmap
- Red zones— high kill density; these are the most contested areas where engagements cluster
- Cold zones— few kills; areas that are either skipped or safe for rotations
- T vs CT overlays— compare attacker and defender kill patterns to see who dominates each zone
- Round type filters— pistol, eco, force-buy, and full-buy rounds each produce distinct positioning patterns
- Weapon filters— isolate AWP kills to find power positions, or rifle kills to identify close-range duels
Why Heatmaps Matter for Your Game
Watching demos is time-consuming. Heatmaps compress hundreds of rounds into a single image, letting you diagnose positioning problems in seconds. If you hold an angle that pro CTs never use, you are likely over-exposed. If a bomb site shows heavy T-side kills at a certain chokepoint, that is where your team should focus utility. Comparing your positioning tendencies against professional match data provides a concrete benchmark that raw aim training cannot. Use these maps alongside the round replay viewer to connect macro patterns to individual rounds.
